UCAGCO (United China and Glass Company)
Japanese Girl with Animal Figurine
Mid-Century Vintage, c. 1950s-1970s
This charming vintage figurine was produced in Japan and imported by the United China and Glass Company (UCAGCO), a prominent distributor of Japanese ceramics and glassware during the mid-20th century. The piece captures a sweet moment, depicting a young girl in a traditional blue kimono gently holding a small white cat or rabbit. The design features a lovely contrast between the glossy cobalt blue glaze of the clothing and the matte, unglazed terracotta finish of the skin, a style popular for decorative imports of the era.
• Features the original silver foil "UCAGCO JAPAN" sticker, confirming its authenticity and origin.
• Detailed with hand-painted Japanese characters on the back and a large yellow bow.
• The base is covered with red flocking (felt) to protect furniture surfaces.
• Measures approximately 7" height x 5" width.
Condition: Used. Excellent vintage condition with vibrant, intact glaze. There are no visible chips or cracks. The piece shows minor signs of age, including a small scuff mark on the back of the head and light wear to the red flocking on the base. Overall, a well-preserved example of this collectible style.
