An elegant antique covered serving dish by John Maddock & Sons, a notable English pottery manufacturer from Burslem, Staffordshire. The piece is made from their durable "Royal Vitreous" body, a type of semi-porcelain earthenware known for its strength. The design features a delicate transferware pattern of pink roses and small blue and yellow flowers, accented with molded details and a bow-shaped handle on the lid.
• Backstamp reads: "JOHN MADDOCK & SONS / ENGLAND / ROYAL VITREOUS" with a crown mark.
• Pattern features a delicate floral garland of roses and other flowers.
• Material is Royal Vitreous, a durable semi-porcelain earthenware.
• Dimensions: 12.5" long x 8" wide x 5" high.
Condition: Good antique condition, consistent with its age. There are no major chips or cracks. The glaze is bright with some light wear to the gold accents on the handles. There is some minor discoloration/staining on the underside of the lid and a few spots on the base, as shown in photos. No significant crazing is visible.
